Harley-Davidson Tri Glide Ultra (2023) – A modified road-trip-ready trike
The history of Harley-Davidson Tri Glide design was marketed initially to bikers who experienced health problems due to injuries, aging, and other needs. Before Harley released the best model of its new three-wheeled motorcycle, the Harley-Davidson Freewheeler, in 2015, the company was known for its Tri-Glide Ultra Classic from 1932 to 1973, making it the first three-wheeled motorcycle.Â
What makes the Harley-Davidson Tri Glide Ultra (2023) so special is that it is essentially a modified Freewheeler turned into a road-trip-ready trike. It features a Twin-Cooled Milwaukee-Eight 114 engine while the Fuel System is an Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection. The engine torque on this one is 121 ft-lb and it is capable of producing around 100 to 110 HP.
With a 6.5-inch touchscreen featuring GPS, AM/FM, and weather radio bands, the bike also provides music and telephone integration when it is mated to your phone. Further, I was glad to find Apple CarPlay on the bike’s display panel. I also found out that you can keep your hands on the grip in case you don’t like the touchscreen interface. There are also hand controls accessible on the handlebar. The integrated trunk of the Harley-Davidson Tri Glide (2023) might not be the best bet but floorboards offer a comfortable platform once I started piling on the miles.
2023 Harley-Davidson Tri Glide Ultra Review
In the world of Harley-Davidson bikes, the trike often gets overlooked by beginners and seasoned pros alike in favor of two-wheelers. However, you might be surprised that the Tri Glide Ultra is one of the best options for bikes who are intimidated by the task of balancing a big heavy motorcycle, with or without a passenger. The Harley-Davidson Tri Glide Ultra (2023) takes into consideration aging riders, women, and women, ensuring everyone is ready to tour the country roads. The 2020 Tri Glide Ultra model was the first Tri Glide to don the CVO badge and it has continued with the 2023 model, making it one of the most premium trikes in the market. In fact, Harley is the only company known for offering a trike as a stock model directly from the manufacturer.
If you’re in the market for a new trike and the Harley-Davidson Tri Glide Ultra (2023) is one of your choices, you will want to know more about the bike. In this in-depth review, you will get to know all about Harley-Davidson Tri Glide Ultra (2023).
Engine and power
A Milwaukee-Eight 114 V-Twin engine is used for providing power to the Harley-Davidson Tri Glide Ultra (2023). It is an air/oil-cooled tidy oil cooler mounted low between the bike’s front downtubes. The engine benefits greatly from 164.1 Nm of torque generated from the motor.
The batwing fairing and split stream air vents are designed for delivering a smooth airflow. It reduces head buffeting alongside equalizing pressure through a duct on the front. The well-evolved interface of the Harley-Davidson Tri Glide Ultra (2023) offers a contemporary feel, look, and function with exceptional durability. All of these features are explicitly designed for trike touring. Every Box GTS infotainment system element on this bike is optimized to enhance your interactions with the trike.
If two wheels are great, three will be exceptional. The Harley-Davidson Tri Glide Ultra (2023) is an amazing option in the Harley-Davidson lineup. Be it the lined brakes with the ABS or the iconic Batwing fairing, the Tri Glide Ultra 2023 manages to live up to the expectations. Even the electronic cruise control, infotainment system, and storage space enhance performance.
The transmission 6-speed cruise drive improves the balance between engine RPM and road speed as it offers quiet smooth shifting and reduces engine speed on the highway. There is also a batwing fairing and split steam air vent, as the front of the device has a pressure-equalizing duct intended for producing smoother airflow and less head buffeting.

Design and appearance
The first thing I noticed when I boarded the Harley-Davidson Tri Glide Ultra (2023) was the seat, which was cushy and extremely comfortable. This is one of the most pampered my rear felt while sitting in a motorcycle seat. If the saddle is not plush enough, the rider also has a backrest. The passenger will feel even more comfortable with wider and taller backrests and armrests. It felt less like a trike and more like a lounge chair on wheels. If it does not sound luxurious enough, both rear and front seats are seated, as are the grips.Â
The stunning design is evident in its beautiful headlights and the dashing, slightly bigger headlight covers. The frame-mounted shark fairing of the Tri Glide Ultra performs multiple duties. It will add protection from the wind at high speeds if the weather gets reckless. This fairing can be easily increased or decreased on demand.
The Box GTS Infotainment system on the 2023 Tri Glide Ultra packs a punch. The bike will redefine your idea of comfort and touring power over the long haul. You’ll also be able to distinctly upgrade the Tri Glide Ultra with parts and accessories designed specifically for the trike. However, you must make sure that it fits, looks, and works right.
Performance and handling
With the powerful engine, the Tri Glide Ultra gets up to speed in a reasonable amount of time. With 121 lb-ft of torque, takeoff will be enough from the bike to lift the front wheel. When riding, the throttle response was great and there wasn’t any loose feeling in the grip or delayed feedback. As I entered the freeway, the Milwaukee-Eight engine had no trouble catching up to other speedsters in my biker gang.
However, shifting the big trike meant getting a solid workout for my left hand. The clutch lever was sprung heavily and needed a fair amount of effort to pull back. Even though I was riding the Tri Glide Ultra for an hour or so, I could easily imagine after a full day of riding, I would have faced hand fatigue from the heavy clutch lever. I found shifting to be easy with the heel shifter on the floorboard. Every gear that I shifted into gave a solid “thunk”, reassuring me that I was in gear.
The brake lever also gave my right hand a hefty workaround. The Harley-Davidson Tri Glide Ultra (2023) comes equipped with Harley’s branded Brembo brakes, sporting four-piston calipers on dual 300mm floating rotors up front as well as a single-piston caliper on a fixed rotor on each rear wheel. I was able to feel every pound of Tri Glide Ultra when actuating the brakes. Thankfully, as with the CVO models, the Tri Glide Ultra 2023 comes equipped with Reflex Defensive Rider Systems, which includes ABS, Electronic Linked Braking, cornering ABS, and Cornering Electronic Linked Braking to provide an extra bolster of stopping confidence.
The ELB modulates braking power to the rear and front brakes once you apply pressure to either the hand lever or the foot lever. With the C-ELB, the system will sense the lateral load of the Tri Glide Ultra while taking a corner and automatically adjust the braking force to maintain the traction of the motorcycle when cornering. As I did not hear the rear tires screeching through corners, I’d say that the system works quite well.
The suspension on the Harley-Davidson Tri Glide Ultra (2023) felt adequately plush, featuring Showa technology. The fork innards utilize dual-bending valves and soak up the road nicely. Meanwhile, the rear emulsion shocks featured preload adjustment with a single-hand crank knob and hardly transferred bumps to the seat.
Technology and electronics
Within the suite of technology here in the RDRS, the Harley-Davidson Tri Glide Ultra (2023) comes with a Drag Torque Slip Control System, Cornering Enhanced Traction Control System, and more. The latter helps keep the back wheel from slipping when accelerating while the former helps keep the back wheel from accidentally slipping during deceleration. Essentially, Harley-Davidson has thrown all the technology it possibly could to help keep the motorcycle in control and maintain traction.
Within the most unique features of the Harley-Davidson Tri Glide Ultra (2023) is the reverse gear, which it shares with its three-wheel sibling, the Freewheeler. Some Harley-Davidson bikes can be as heavy as over 900 pounds but the Tri Glide Ultra is a huge 1,243 pounds. Backing up any bike, even the ones under 500 pounds can be challenging, especially if you have to go in reverse up a hill. The Harley-Davidson Tri Glide Ultra 2023 makes such scenarios a non-issue and it is quite easy to operate.
Among the many features of each bike in the CVO lineup is an optional Harley-Davidson Connect Service, which is a subscription-based service that uses the Harley-Davidson app to transmit info about their bike, including the battery life, tire pressure, the remaining range, and more. It also sends an alert if your bike is being stolen or tampered with. Each bike is given a year of complimentary service that is enabled once it is sold to its new owner. Then, you can add in the Boom! Box GTS infotainment system, blast tunes through the four Boom! Stage 1 two-way speakers (two speakers in the fairing and the other two built into the top case), making it one of the most luxurious open-air touring machines that isn’t a car.
With commemorative paint and finishes, premium features, and a combination of performance, comfort, and confidence on three wheels, the limited-edition release has been pulled up. Riders can now confidently ride courtesy of the brand-new traction control. Further, you can also remain in control by having electricity sent to the areas that require it. A Milwaukee-Eight 114 V-Twin engine, electronic cruise control, 6.8-inch cubic feet of storage space, and Reflex-linked brakes with ABS are included.
With electric reverse, you will have all the control you need at your disposal. Rethink what you mean by “tourist power” and “comfortable long-distance riding”. This is a long-distance touring machine with all the power, great looks, top-notch entertainment, and all the storage capacity that three wheels can accommodate.
Price and availability
In addition to the plethora of exciting specs and fancy tech that goes along with the Harley-Davidson Tri Glide Ultra (2023), it has got multiple color options. The Harley-Davidson Tri Glide Ultra (2023) is available in three color schemes and multiple finishes. These options include Vivid Black, Gray Haze with Silver Fortune, Atlas Silver Metallic, Heirloom Red Fade, and Prosper Gold with Vivid Black.
This three-wheeler needs American horsepower to hustle you down the highway roads. The Harley-Davidson Tri Glide Ultra 2023 is one of the six limited edition bikes from Harley. This serialized motorcycle model features premium lineaments and commemorative paint finishes. These are designed to celebrate 120 years of Harley-Davidson pride and premium craftsmanship.
The base price of the bike is $36,499.
